Decorative antiques from England and France

About Sharland & Lewis

Founded by Ali Sharland and Libs Lewis in 1998, who joined forces after working in the trade for a number of years, Sharland and Lewis has gone from strength to strength thanks to the combined good taste of all involved - Ali and Libs brought in Hoggy Nicholls, an existing antique dealer with a similar outlook.

The girls share a passion for restyling the most unlikely pieces of furniture into things of beauty.

“We deal in a mixture of styles, from contemporary minimalism to unpretentious country, and everything we sell is unfussy yet stylish, beautiful as well as functional,” say Ali and Libs. “Our style sits just as well in an urban house as it does in a rural cottage - it’s easy to live with.”

“Rather than getting an interior designer to do a room or a house, from Sharland and Lewis, you can do it bit by bit - we make interior design a proactive experience for our customers. We respond to fashion, but it’s our individual touch that sets us apart from other antiques shops.”

“We all have our own styles,” said Hoggy, who originally specialised in nursery antiques but has branched out more recently into decorative furniture, “but we all bring something individual to Sharland and Lewis. We all pitch in for the shop.”

This cumulative ethic has helped them forge a unique, fashionable and rather lovely shop and has lead to a great deal of press coverage. They have appeared in: Vogue’s Secret Address Book, Easy Living 50 Most Unusual And Stylish Shops, The Telegraph Magazine, Homes & Gardens, Country Living, Hello, Country Homes and Interiors, BBC Good Homes, BBC Homes And Antiques, The English Home, Period Living and numerous interior design books.

The shop operates on a friendly, un-intimidating basis and the Sharland and Lewis team are always happy to email detailed photos of items or discuss customer requirements on the phone.
